Teachers’ Forum on Thursday asked the state government to re-think its decision over asking middle school teachers to report to their duties on February 23 while as the routine class work is scheduled to begin from March 5.“ What will the teachers do in the empty schools for more than 10 days.

This is unfair and needs to berectified by the government. The teachers of Primary to Middle level have been asked to report to their duties on February 23 and the government itself has stated that the classes will begin from March 5. What will the teachers do in schools till that time,” EJAC President Abdul Qayoom Wani told KNS. He added that the teaching fraternity is bearing huge losses due to winter breaks as Earned Leave Salary is denied to them and the government is even now trying to curtail these vacations for them. “The teachers have been asked to make heating arrangements and all.

Government should know that teachers aren’t meant for that purpose. They teach students and that is why they are teachers,” Wanisaid. Meanwhile, when contacted, Education Minister Altaf Bukhari told KNS that the teachers aren’t the government employees first and that they should respect the decision taken by the Director Education. “The government has taken the decision and it be respected by the teachers. We aren’t against them in anyway,” Bukhari said
